Gala Bingo Quits National Bingo Game
2008-05-21

Gala Bingo , the biggest UK bingo operator has announced that it is going to quit the National Bingo Game by August.

The announcement came yesterday and will most certainly cause a huge disappointment to everyone that’s left in the game. The biggest blow is expected to be faced by the smaller bingo operators that cannot afford big payouts to their players.

Gala Bingo made a decision to leave the game after the law was changed to allow rollover prizes and is now admitting to concentrating on their own jackpot game.

This is going to show a huge change in the National Bingo Game, as one third of all bingo halls involved in the game are Gala’s. This is just under 170 of 500 clubs that are linked through a central computer to accommodate National Bingo Game players.

The most likely result from this is reduced jackpot amounts. The weekly average National Bingo jackpot prize was about £1 million, with the latest winner of the game Soraya Lowell, 38, taking the record £1,2 million. Now the amount is expected to significantly fall, as Gala Bingo leaves the scene.

The game was introduced in 1986, since when the grand total of all winnings became around £1 billion.
